Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Determine system requirements
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
  • Obtain instructions regarding system requirements and clarify as necessary
  • Correctly interpret circuit drawings using standard symbols
       
Element: Select components for simple hydraulic circuits
  • Select suitable fire-resistant fluids for hydraulic systems from specification charts
  • Select linear actuators and motors to suit system requirements
  • Select control valves to suit system requirements
  • Select pipe or hose and fittings to suit system requirements
       
Element: Verify component selection
  • Set up and trial basic hydraulic circuits on laboratory benches
  • Store approved sketches, drawings, specifications and catalogues
  • Issue approved sketches, drawings or specifications
  • Analyse operation and verify outcomes against system requirements

Assessment Tasks
